Do you have a health condition that makes exercise difficult or scary?
Sports Injury massage
Do you wake up tired each and every day? Do you feel exhausted before your day is even half done? Are you tired of feeling sluggish, irritable and bloated?? If you answered yes to one or all of these questions, ask yourself some more: are you in shape? Are you fit? Are you as healthy as you could be?
Would you like a more holistic approach to getting fit, one that is designed specifically for you?
Do you want to get fit but are not sure how to go about it without compromising your health?
Not being fit causes a myriad of problems that range from the physical, mental to the emotional. If you have never been in shape you might not even realize how well you could actually feel every day. If you have been in shape, but life changes have caused you to lose your fitness level, you might have great memories of how good you used to feel. The truth is, you can get those great feelings back.
Maybe you aren't experiencing the ill effects of not being fit, but instead have reached a plateau in your workout regimen. This isn't unusual, it happens even to professional athletes and while it can be difficult to get off the plateau and reach a new level of fitness, it is far from impossible. And one of the best ways to do it is by incorporating some form of exercise or physical activity into your daily routine.

Massage has been used for centuries and is recognised as one of the oldest methods of healing with references in medical texts dating back nearly 4,000 years old.

African Rungu Massage
The African Rungu Massage is an African massage using a unique wooden baton, the Rungu.
In Maasai culture, the Rungu is an important emblem of warrior status for young males. A special one is held by a designated speaker at important tribal gatherings. Rungu’s may be elaborately carved or made of other materials.
The Rungu massage gives the effect of a deep tissue massage but with the use of the tool allows additional pressure if required, it helps gain access to deep tissues to release knots and adhesions, deep relaxation encourages lymph drainage and helps restore muscle to full length and decrease muscle tension. The tool can also help with areas of extreme tightness such as the legs which for a lot of sports people can carry a lot of tension. It is therefore also very useful as an aid alongside Sports Injury treatment/Sports massage.
Why is massage so important?
We need to keep soft tissue including joints, ligaments and muscles in good condition but for most people this may be a challenge. e.g. if we have a desk job we may suffer from weak muscles in the leg/buttocks, or if we have a sports activity we are involved in regularly we may have muscles that are overactive or tight, As muscles always work in pairs, the opposing muscle then tries to compensate for the weak muscle or tight muscle, this can ultimately lead to problems over time, causing shortened muscles, tightness, knots and adhesions and can lead to muscular imbalances, joint misalignment, muscular pain and tightness, decreased range of motion and ultimately make you more prone to sudden injury. Regular massage will ensure that the muscles are kept supple and that any knots or adhesions may be released or reduced, it will also help blood circulation and movement of nutrients through soft tissue which is extremely important for muscle and joint health.

Nutrition and Wellbeing Advice
A health and fitness program that does not include some advice on your nutrition is likely to be ineffective. This is why nutrition advice is key to your achievement of your goals and why I take it very seriously. As part of your personal training program, I will ask you to provide me with a food diary which will be evaluated and then used as a basis for our recommendations for your diet and nutrition. As previously stated, I am not here to make your lives a misery but to make it more enjoyable so it's not just about forcing you to eat foods that you find unpalatable. I will to encourage you to try new foods in conjunction with your own favourite foods. The goal is to educate you about why certain foods are good and indeed essential for your health and wellbeing. I don't try to hide any information from you as I want you to have the power in your hands to make the right choices and be able to improve your nutrition for your benefit. This is a lifestyle change and I appreciate it will take time, but I will be with you every step of the way.
Regular exercise combined with good nutrition will help you lose weight and enhance your general health and wellbeing. What exactly does this mean? Let me be a bit more specific about the wellbeing benefits;
- More energy
- Better sleep
- More active
- Feel good after exercise due to the release of endorphins
- Feel better about yourself
- New social contacts
- Positive self image
- Achieve healthy weight
These are just a few of the many benefits of exercise. Improved wellbeing will mean you feel more in control of your life, you will have better concentration levels and have more balance in your life. This is achieved not just by exercise but by a combination of good nutrition, restful sleep, periods of rest + periods of exercise and activity and a more active social life. All of this will help you to cope with the demands and stresses of life and still be in control.
